THE CABARET MK2 10” COMBO
The new Cabaret Mk2 10” Combo is a unique 15 watt all tube amp that builds on customer feedback we received from the acclaimed original Cabaret 13, and reflects the need to give players a fantastic pedal platform in the vein of the iconic Fender Princeton Reverb and the like, but with a distinctive British flavor as we turn the amp up past noon, thanks to the cathode-biased EL84 power tubes, reminiscent of the fabled original Vox AC15 and AC30.
The Cabaret Mk2 also features all tube spring reverb that conjures classic 60’s surf, with room to go even more cavernous from there, and a proprietary bias tremolo circuit that is pretty unprecedented at its extremes, allowing for over the top, almost doppler effects when turned up all the way.
Perfect for small gigs, the studio, and the bedroom, the Cabaret gives you familiar clean tube tones you can build on with the dirt of your choice, and add plenty of “edge-of-breakup” character to the mix along the way. And when your Cabaret needs to translate on a bigger stage? No problem, just add a Cabaret 12” Extension Cabinet, and plug into the additional speaker output on the rear panel. No venue is too big for this little combo!

What kind of power section does the Cabaret Mk2 have?
The Cabaret features a pair of cathode biased EL-84 power tubes, reminiscent of a Vox AC15 or Cambridge Reverb. This is what gives it such a distinct “British” tone when cranked up and overdriven, even though the preamp driving this power section has little to do with a 60’s Vox circuit.
What kind of preamp section does the Cabaret Mk2 have?
At first glance, you’d think you were looking at a classic Fender preamp circuit from the 1960’s, but there are a few subtle but distinctive changes that mainly affect how the later sections overdrive. In particular the first preamp tube’s bias and the tone stack’s mid scoop are designed to sound a little more “Voxy”, regardless of volume setting. What does this mean in plain English? A little more upper midrange “chime” and a bit less bass than you’ll find on a classic Princeton or similar 10” combo.
What kind of spring reverb circuit is in the Cabaret Mk2?
The Cabaret’s reverb circuit and hardware is virtually identical to the classic black panel surf-machines of old. And we’ve left in the ability to get REALLY wet and drippy with this amp, leaving you the choice of reverberating as subtly or recklessly as you choose.
What kind of tremolo is in the Cabaret Mk2?
The Cabaret’s bias tremolo circuit began with the Vox Cambridge Reverb’s simple design, and then took it far beyond what that amp can do, giving you the ability to blow past tasteful and classic into weird new wobbly territory. Past about 3 o’clock, the tremolo oscillator begins to interact with the power output section in bizarre and unpredictable ways that you’ll have a hard time finding on a pedal.
Can the Cabaret Mk2 Combo run multiple speakers at the proper impedance?
Yes: There is a 4Ω/8Ω/16Ω rotary impedance selector on the rear panel, and an additional speaker output next to the one used for the internal speaker. Have fun experimenting with unique combinations of speaker size and style!
The older Cabaret 13 used an Alnico Gold speaker. What’s with the change?
Ultimately, we felt like the rounder top end and “neutrality” of the Greenback was the best fit for the new design of the Cabaret Mk2. But Alnico lovers, don’t despair! We had a lot of fun with both 10” and 12” Alnico Golds, as well as some newer Jensens. I’ve you crave that specific zing, the Cabaret Mk2 can hang.
Can the Cabaret Mk2 be used in Europe or outside the US?
